GRANT PROCESS
FUNDING REGION: Spokane-area focus, encompassing the interior Columbia Basin, west to the Cascades, south to Walla Walla, northern Idaho, east to the Rockies, north to the Canadian border. You can see examples of previous grants here.
GRANT SIZE: $1,000 to $10,000.
GRANT CYCLE: Accepting unsolicited and solicited grant applications June 1–September 30. Grant awards typically made in late fall.
PARAMETERS: The Foundation does not make grants to endowments or individuals, religious, or military activities.
PROCEDURE: Organizations may apply to Community Building Foundation once per year at any time during the calendar year by submitting a one page letter of inquiry. After review of the inquiry by the executive director, the Foundation will invite appropriate applicants to complete a full Community Building Application form. You can view the form here.
TYPES OF GRANTS
General: These grants are awarded as per the guidelines described above.
Direct Charitable Giving: A $20,000 annual fund will be available for the disbursement which will not require the full application process. These grants, in the amount of $100 to $1,500, are made at the discretion of the executive director with the approval of the board members and are used to co-sponsor and encourage community events and activities that support our mission.
Board Member Discretionary: Each board member will be allowed $5,000 per year for disbursement to an organization of his/her choosing. These solicited grants will not require the regular application process but will be subject to the legal parameters required of all monies disbursed and will be approved by the board.
